Herbal Facts

Herbal products have been effective in treating fungus for centuries.  Below is a list of herbal ingredients known for their anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and healing properties that are used in PediMD products.

Aloe Extract
Moisturizing herb used to soothe minor burns, wounds and skin abrasions.

Acocado Oil
Avocado Oil is a deep penetrating oil, rich in vitamins A, D and E, lecithin as well as potassium. The oil is easily absorbed into deep tissue and its powerful emollient properties help to relieve the dryness and itching of psoriasis and eczema.

Avocado Oil is also known as an anti-aging substance.  As an ingredient in PediMD Anti Fungal Foot Cream, avocado oil helps moisturize rough and thickened skin on the foot preventing cuts, calluses and leaving the foot soft and supple to touch.

Cucumber Extract
Cucumber Extract is a natural cleanser that possesses humectants, moisture-regulating, soothing, tightening, anti-itch and anti-inflammatory properties. It contains high amounts of amino acids and organic acids that are beneficial to the skin, as well as polysaccharides which create a light gel-like layer to retain water and keep skin smooth.

PediMD foot cream contains cucumber extract.  It is used for its emollient properties which allow it to transport the active ingredient, Clotrimazole, and evenly distribute it throughout the infected area. Additionally, Cucumber Extract acts as an anti-inflammatory and anti-irritant to relieve itching.

Fennel is used for its soothing, cleansing and toning effects on the skin and as a defense against wrinkles. It is an active anti-oxidant which improves circulation and fights water retention and puffiness. The therapeutic properties of fennel include: anti-septic, diuretic, stimulant and tonic.

The major reason for incorporating fennel into the PediMD Anti-Fungal Nail Sealer is that it detoxifies and cleanses the infected area.  Fennel also stimulates healthy circulation and maintains skin elasticity.

Horsetail has diuretic, astringent and wound-healing properties. It is useful for boosting and rejuvenating the connective tissue while strengthening the foundation of skin by regenerating skin cells.

Horsetail which is used in our foot cream is rich in silica, which the body uses to produce collagen and rebuild connective tissues.

Ivy Extract
Ivy Extract helps to boost blood circulation, tones and tightens the skin while helping to remove waste products and fatty build-ups.  The active ingredients in Ivy Extract, including the saponosids, aid in skin absorption of other ingredients in PediMD products.

Jojoba Oil
Jojoba Oil serves as an excellent moisturizing agent with exceptional lubricity.  The oil leaves a rich velvety non-oily feel on the skin while retaining water to enhance the flexibility and suppleness of the skin and promote the growth of new skin cells.

Jojoba  Oil is used in our nail treatment system primarily to rejuvenate infected nail and skin cells and promote the growth of new, healthy cells. This oil speeds the growth of an infected nail while it heals, soothes and moisturizes the surrounding skin leaving, it soft and smooth.

Menthol has anti-bacterial and anti-septic and anti-inflammatory properties. Menthol is a strong alcohol which not only cleans the nail, but also treats the fungus as well.

Many doctors prescribe menthol cream as a cure for nail fungus.  However, menthol cannot penetrate the nail and reach the source of the fungus. PediMD Nail Treatment System is designed to unroof the top layer of the nail through the use of Urea to allow the Menthol to penetrate through the nail and into the root where fungus grows and multiplies.  When paired with Clotrimazole, the active ingredient in all PediMD products, and Jojoba/Tea Tree oil, menthol has been shown to be an excellent fungal remedy for troubled nails.

Nigra Flower (Elder) Extract
Nigra Flower extract helps to promote cell rejuvenation and regeneration, provides moisture and hydration to the skin, and heals infected soft tissue.
